Eminem drops Russell Wilson’s name in ‘The Monster’ single
Movin’ up in the rap world: Russell Wilson, right, talks to Seattle
rapper Macklemore before the Seahawks-Titans game Oct. 13 at CenturyLink
Field.
The latest single from Eminem, “The Monster” featuring Rihanna, hit airwaves over the weekend as the rapper gears up to release his new album next week. Generally, that sort of thing wouldn’t exactly fit here on seattlepi.com’s Seahawks Blog — except this time the Hawks are involved.
“The Monster” has nothing to do with Seattle’s NFL team and its star sophomore quarterback. But buried near the end (around the 2:50 mark in the video below) is a reference to Wilson proving naysayers wrong after he slipped to the third round in the 2012 NFL Draft.
I ain’t here to save the (freaking) children
But if one kid out of 100 million
Who are going through a struggle feels and then relates, that’s great
It’s payback, Russell Wilson falling way back
In the draft, turn nothing into something,
Still can make that star into gold chump,
I will spin Rupelstiltskin in a haystack ….
